PRESS RELEASE
Clarion Fund Congratulates Senator Obama
Urges
Strong Commitment to Combat Terrorism
Last update: 4:53 p.m. EST Nov. 6, 2008
NEW YORK, Nov 06, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Clarion Fund, a non-profit
organization dedicated to educating the public about national security issues, congratulated
Senator Barack Obama on his victory in the presidential election and urged him to
be resolute in combating the threat presented by radical Islamists.
"We congratulate Senator Obama on his historic victory," said Raphael Shore, the
founder of Clarion Fund and the producer of the award-winning documentary, Obsession:
Radical Islam's War Against the West. "Senator Obama's life journey and historic
election exemplify the strength of American values -- freedom, democracy, and equal
opportunity. These are the very liberties that radical Islam is suppressing around
the world, as shown in Obsession."
Clarion Fund has been criticized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR),
an organization that refuses to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah, for having attempted
to sway the presidential election to Senator John McCain by distributing DVDs of
Obsession as an advertising insert in 70 newspapers to coincide with the anniversary
of 9/11. Obsession, which was produced in 2005 well before Senator Obama announced
his candidacy, makes no mention of the President-elect or his positions on terrorism.
The film relies on the actual words of radical Islamists to paint an accurate depiction
of the manner in which Muslim extremists have hijacked Islam to incite hatred, violence,
human rights abuses, and the murder of innocent people. In an attempt to silence
an honest discussion on the threat of radical Islam, CAIR has falsely attacked Obsession
as hate speech even though the film clearly states that it is not about the vast
majority of Muslims who are peaceful.
"We have reached a point in America where any discussion of radical Islamists and
their terrorist acts has been characterized as fear-mongering, anti-Muslim or anti-Obama,"
said Shore. "This is a dangerous development. The radical Islamists would like nothing
more than for America people to lull themselves into believing that terrorism is
no longer a threat to their security."
