Professor Alan M. Dershowitz
Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law,  Harvard Law School

Professor Alan M. Dershowitz has been described by Newsweek as "the nation's most peripatetic civil liberties lawyer and one of its most distinguished defenders of individual rights."  He has also been called the "winningest appellate criminal defense lawyer in history."  Dershowitz has been a pioneer in making the legal profession accessible to the general public. He was the first law professor to write regularly for the New York Times in its Week in Review, op-ed and Book Review sections.  He is the best-selling author of 20 non-fiction works and two novels, and has published hundreds of articles in magazines and journals.  His writings have been praised by Elie Wiesel, Henry Louis Gates, Jr, and others.   He has advised presidents, UN officials, prime ministers, and business leaders about legal and political issues, and has also represented and consulted with major media companies on free-speech issues.   Dershowitz has lectured around the world on subjects ranging from civil liberties and human rights to criminal code.  He takes half of his cases on a pro bono basis and continues to represent numerous indigent defendants and causes.
